Former Flagstaff Eagles footballer Liza Bosselman was drafted by the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League ahead of the 2023 season.
Bothelman graduated from Gonzaga in Spokane, Washington.
She earned All-West Region and First Team All-WCC honors this season, and was also named All-Academic District and All-Academic WCC. Bosselman holds the program record for the fewest goals allowed in a season, as well as a career giving up 13 goals in 2022 and 47 goals since 2019.
She ranks second all-time in Gonzaga shutouts with 20 and has the eighth-most career saves with 182.
The Spirit went on to win 3-9-10 last season to begin their 2023 campaign against OL Reign on Sunday.

Northland Prep Academy started the regional schedule strongly, needing just four innings to beat Highland Prep on surprise Thursday.
The 2A Conference Spartans (3-1, 1-0 Central) started the game with nine runs in the top of the first inning.
Sophomore Kiana Butler pitched all four innings, allowing 10 batters on just one hit.
Renan Butler led offensively, going 2-for-2 with 4 RBIs, 3 runs and a triple, while Northland Prep didn’t commit a single error in the ball game. She also painted two walks. Spartan sophomore Audrey Wilson went 1-2 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Wilson also drew his three walks, as did Reannan Butler.
The Spartans will host North Point Prep Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. at Sinagua Middle School.

Spartans 12, Honey Badgers 8
The Northland Prep Academy pushed their record to 2-2 (1-0 Central) with a surprise regional victory over Highland Prep on Thursday.
The Spartans started strongly, scoring five runs in the top of the first innings. The Honey Badgers narrowed the gap to just two runs, but they couldn’t do so as Northland Prep won.
Jr. Jordan Donahue went 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs, 3 bases, 2 bases and 2 stolen bases as the winner of the last two games. Junior Leafs his biren was 2-for-3 and he recorded a 2-for-2 doubles, two runs scored and a stolen base. Junior Luke Aprilin hit a solo home run.
The NPA will host North Pointe Prep on Tuesday.

Flagstaff High School alumni Maddie Christopher finished fifth in the women’s open division race at the LA Marathon on Sunday with a time of 3:04:14.99.
Christopher ran for the Eagles’ cross-country and track teams, competing against the Arizona Wildcats.
