A 63-year-old Wisconsin man was again charged with murder in the death of a missing Cypress man in 1988 and was arrested at his home last week, officials said.
On June 8 of that year, Angel Martinez, 52, was reported missing by his wife. Officer Jason Delea, a spokesman for the Fontana Police Department, said he left home to meet his friend in Fontana, but he never arrived.
His body was found two weeks later in La Paz County, Arizona.
After a forensic examination, authorities identified a suspect.
On March 15, Fontana police traveled to De Pere, Wisconsin, and arrested suspect Kelvin Keith Emmons, 63, at his home. No information has been released by authorities about how they were able to identify the suspect and the motive for the killing.
Emmons was awaiting extradition to San Bernardino County.
“This arrest is a testament to our commitment to upholding justice for the victims and their families,” said Fontana Police Chief Michael Dorsey in a statement. I want to thank you for your efforts.”
