Jobless claims fall in Graham, flat in Greenlee

PHOENIX — Graham County unemployment numbers fell slightly in February.

That’s according to data released last Thursday by the Arizona Department of Commerce.

Graham County’s unemployment rate fell 0.1 percentage points to 3.1% in February, joining Yavapai County for the third-lowest unemployment rate in the state.

Greenlee County maintained its position as the county with the lowest unemployment rate for the 15th straight month in February, unchanged from January at 2.3%.

Maricopa County has the second lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.9%. Meanwhile, nearby Cochise County saw him rise 0.1 points to 4.1% in February.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell by a tenth of a percentage point in February to 3.7%. However, this is one-tenth of a percentage point higher than Arizona’s unemployment rate in February 2022. The national unemployment rate remained flat at 3.9%.

Six economic sectors reported job growth in February. Leisure and Hospitality (+5,400). private education and health services (4,400 additional jobs); Construction (2,400 more); Trade, Transportation and Utilities (700 more). and Natural Resources and Mining (200 more).

Reported job losses include: information (down 300 jobs); manufacturing (down 200 jobs); and financial activities (down 200 jobs).
