BULLHEAD CITY – A new series of non-credit classes at Mojave Community College aims to bridge the gap between Mojave County’s business needs and education through a partnership between the university, local chambers of commerce and ARIZONA@WORK is.
The Workforce Excellence Series includes six programs on the topics most requested by local employers. Management and supervision, dispute management and resolution, organizational leadership, customer service, communication skills, and team performance.
No-credit courses are designed to provide professional and flexible training without the need for qualifications or degrees.
Offered on campuses in Kingman, Bullhead City, and Lake Havasu City, the series is reportedly tailored to the needs of each service area with the support of each area’s local Chamber of Commerce. .
“They facilitated discussions and focus groups with employers so we could make sure the topics that mattered most to them were included. They helped recruit instructors, provided valuable feedback, and We helped with awareness and marketing,” said MCC Director Mary Mendola. Corporate training and business development.
Bo Helams, president and CEO of the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce, said Bullhead City’s class is focused on customer service and tourism.
This is due to the city’s proximity to the Laughlin and Colorado Rivers. This was taken into consideration when developing the pilot program.
“Each Chambers adds its own interpretation,” Hellams said. “We all teach similar classes and have very similar strengths, but our communities each have different needs.”
In addition to its partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, MCC has collaborated with ARIZONA@WORK to provide financial assistance to eligible individuals and businesses.
Tuition for each course is $510 for non-chamber members and $475 for chamber members, with most classes beginning the second or third week of April.
Classes are held “in the evenings, lunch breaks and on weekends for the convenience of working people,” Mendola said.
