The Yavapai Symphony Association’s penultimate ’22-’23 season concert combines a French-Canadian orchestra, an Israeli piano master and meticulously crafted sounds. Les Violons du Roi Kings music. YSA proudly presents Les Violons du Roi The Chamber Ensemble, Sunday, April 30, 3:00 pm at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center in Prescott.
Named after the court orchestras of the French kings, Les Violons du Roy was founded 39 years ago in Quebec City to explore chamber music, with performances aligned with the compositional period of each piece. The 15-member ensemble plays modern instruments, but uses period bows in baroque and classical music. Its interpretation is based on the latest research on 17th-century and his 18th-century performance practices. Their repertoire of his 19th-century and his 20th-century works has garnered similar attention, with regular appearances in the orchestra’s programs.
Les Violons du Roy is a two-time winner of the Canadian Juno Awards Classical Album of the Year. In 2001, Georg won an award for his recordings of Friedrich Handel’s ‘Apollo Edaphne’ and Handel’s ‘Sileteventi’, and for his recording of Mozart’s ‘Requiem’. Awarded in 2003.
Piano Master Inon Vernathan
At Prescott, Violon du Roi will perform programs by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach with special guest artist Inon Bernathan. Acclaimed by The New York Times as “one of his most acclaimed pianists of his generation”, Bernathan was the first Artists-In-Association of the New York Philharmonic, and has performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles He Philharmonic, and the United States. has performed with most of the major orchestras in , Leipzig He has performed with the Gewandhausorchester, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, London, Helsinki, Hong Kong and Royal He with the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
