Grand Canyon North Rim set to reopen following record-setting snow season

Jacob Lake, Arizona. – The official start of the beloved national park is set to reopen following a season of record snow.

The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park opens at 6am on June 2nd after more than 250 inches of snow accumulated this winter.

The National Park Service said this delay in opening is necessary to ensure safe snow removal from Route 67 and allow staff to reopen tourist facilities on the North Rim.

Superintendent Ed Keble said, “We thank our neighbors and visitors for their patience and cooperation with this delay as our partners and park staff work to keep the North Rim’s roads, trails and facilities open safely. I am grateful.

The entrance to the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is located 30 miles south of Lake Jacob. The actual rim of the canyon is another 14 miles south of the entrance.

Lake Jacob is located in northern Arizona on Highway 89A, not far from the Utah border. The Grand Canyon is completely within Arizona.
