Law enforcement and other emergency personnel responded to Yuma Middle School about potential threats last Wednesday afternoon.
The activities were held after the day’s classes were over.
Below is a joint statement issued by the Yuma First School District and the Yuma Police Department.
“On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, we received an inquiry from Yuma Middle School regarding a potential threat. The Yuma Police Department was notified and responded immediately. No credible threats were determined.
However, with due diligence, the Yuma Police Department, the Yuma Volunteer Fire Department, and the Yuma County Sheriff searched the middle school grounds, but found no credible threats of concern.
“Due to the nature of this concern, the district and police will continue to monitor it. If any credible threats are identified, the public will be notified.”
When asked earlier this week, Yuma School District-1 said it had nothing new to report, reiterating that it was a precautionary measure and that no issues had been found.
