Prospect Watch: As far as PCL games go, this was a 9.5 on the wild meter. Albuquerque he led 5–0 after two innings. El Paso scored four in the fifth inning and eventually tied the game at eight in the ninth inning. Isotopes seemed to put the game out of reach as he scored five in the top of the ninth. However, El Paso scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to bring the tie to base.Unfortunately, the comeback effort was thwarted Matthew Batten Strike out to end the game.

As far as El Paso is concerned these days, Fernando Tatis Jr. It’s in the minds of Padres fans around the world. The 24-year-old Starr made his home debut in El Paso and had his three hits in four plate appearances. He also added the stolen base to his ledger. Tatis has a .353/.522/.588 stolen base percentage in his five games with the Chihuahuas. …while Tatis wreaked havoc at the top of the lineup, the former major leaguer Preston Tucker Damaged Nine Spots. Tucker paced El Paso’s offense by scoring two hits, including a triple, and driving in four runs. Tucker, 32, came into Tuesday’s game with just one hit in his first 12 at-bats. He has his 243-game experience in the majors in his league, but not his experience in Atlanta in 2018. He spent the last year at Atlanta’s Triple A affiliate in Gwinnett… Matt Waldron I got off to a rough start early. He allowed four runs on four hits in his first inning, including a pair of doubles, before coming out of the inning. From there, Waldron fell apart in the sixth, allowing just one run over the next four innings. Overall, the lines weren’t clean. He allowed his 7 earned runs in his 5th inning. However, he was able to record seven strikeouts and pitched well for most of the game. The 26-year-old struggled on his maiden voyage with the Pacific Coast in his league last season, giving up his staggering 92 hits in 69.1 innings and posting an 8.44 ERA. Waldron’s knuckleball makes him one of the most interesting pitchers in the system, but he needs to produce more consistent results to become a viable big league option.

Prospect Watch: The Missions used two home runs and a solid job of six pitchers to record a three-hit shutout in the home opener. …right fielder Tirso Ornelas Scored a double, a homer and two runs to lead the mission’s offense. Ornelas is back for his second stint with City at the Alamo after posting attacking league-average figures in the 2022 campaign. The 23-year-old has a good approach at bat, but he hasn’t consistently hit the ball in the air. He had his sixth-highest ground ball percentage (49.4%) in the league one his season ago. Very early on, he’s hitting the ball in the air and in the middle of the field more than ever in his career. … infielder Evan Mendoza He got on base twice, leading to his first home run as a member of the organization in Tuesday’s win.th First round of the 2017 MLB Draft. Prospect Watch: The TinCaps returned home in beautiful Summit City weather, but not enough to heat up the attack. Fort Wayne started the 2023 campaign with just four hits that put him on a four-game losing streak. … center fielder Jacob Mercy He extended his hitting streak to four games with one in four at-bats. He also added two stolen bases and gave three on the season. Fort Wayne’s offense has only his 17 hits in his first four games. Marsee has his five. He made .417/.563/.417 starts. … 24-year-old outfielder Justin Farmer Had a pair of doubles and drove in the TinCaps only run of the evening. The former Florida International star drew a whopping 106 steps last season between Lake Elsinore and a late-season cameo on the Tincaps. Body Lascon He pitched three strong innings for the TinCaps, allowing just two hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. The 22-year-old Lascon made four starts for Cal last season for the Tincaps after a solid run in his league. Lascon, who pitched 80 innings last year, will be over 100 innings for the first time since he earned a six-figure bonus in the 14th round of the 2019 draft. Jose Gerardo It was his first appearance since July 11, 2021, when he left the mound with an elbow injury in a game against Lake County at Parkview Field. The injury required Tommy John surgery and Gerard missed the entire 2022 season. On Tuesday night, the 24-year-old pitched his second scoreless inning, allowing one hit, one walk and two strikeouts. Gerard has a fastball that he can reach in the high 90s, giving Wayne an arm that can close.

Prospect Watch: The Storm hit the road for the first time, making a quick trek to San Bernardino to take on the 66ers. Lake Elsinore won easily with better pitching. In four games, the Storm has outperformed his opponents by 32-3. … third baseman Graham Polley They had three hits, including a triple, to lead the Storm offense. The 22-year-old former Duke infielder got off to a blistering start, going 7-for-13 with two doubles and his third to start his season. …after a quiet series with Visalia, Samuel Zavala I woke up a little on Tuesday, carved a single, and took a walk. The 21-year-old allowed a run on his five hits without walking a hitter. In a very promising sign, Gonzalez equaled his career-high seven strikeouts. This is a record set last year. Gonzalez has mostly served as a starter last year, but he should be able to comfortably eat many innings this year as a veteran to a very young pitching staff. … right handed Dylan Nedved scoring his first career save by recording the last four outs. Nedved played a second round in his ninth round for the Padres from Iowa last year. Adam MatherHe allowed hits and walks and struck out. Nedved said he was a two-way player with the Hawkeyes in 2021, but focused primarily on pitching in 2022.

Roster Movement: Storm made the first deal of the 2023 campaign by sending a right-hander. carter rowen to the Arizona League. It’s interesting that Rowen wasn’t on the disabled list. The former Hawaii right-hander underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 after a promising start at Fort Wayne. It’s the right-hander who occupies his place on the active roster Dwayne Matosreturned to the Cal League after pitching for the Storm in 2021.
