Flagstaff – After a winter weather hiatus, a project to resurface and other improvements along southbound Interstate 17 south of Flagstaff resumed today (April 24) Lane restriction has started.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, pavement improvement work is underway over the next few months, so drivers should expect lane restrictions in some areas.
Southbound I-17 is currently in the current phase of resurfacing and has been narrowed to one lane 24 hours a day in several locations between Flagstaff and the Manns Park area.
ADOT recommends allowing drivers extra travel time, especially during peak travel times. Motorists must also comply with the relaxed speed limit and be alert to personnel and equipment in all work zones.
All in all, the $35 million project, which began last year, will resurface 29 miles of southbound I-17 between Flagstaff and the Coconino/Yavapai County line. The project also includes bridge repairs and improvements along shoulders and interchange ramps. Work is expected to be completed by fall 2023.
Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at: az511.govADOT also provides updates on highway conditions through its Twitter feed. @Arizona DOT.
