Temperatures rising into triple-digits and near-record heat

Yuma, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) – The next few days will be mostly calm and dry weather.

Strong winds with northerly winds around 15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph will provide balmy conditions for the rest of the day.

A flood warning is in effect until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 2, as water from the Painted Rock Dam continues to flow through Yuma County and down the Gila River.

As anticyclones build up over the western United States later in the week and into next weekend, the warming trend will push temperatures from the mid-90s to above the triple digits.

With a record of 103 degrees in Yuma and 104 degrees in El Centro, we are looking for the highest possible record on Sunday.

Highs tend to be 10-15 degrees warmer than normal, so be sure to take some heat-saving tips when the weather is hot.
