A flagship team that always brings high spirits and a competitive edge, the Nardettes won the Literacy Center’s 26th Annual Mountain Spelling Bee Bash Saturday night at the High Country Conference Center. The Nerdettes regained the title from the defending champion, his Herbivorous Spellers, titled ‘The Cat in the Hat Comes Back’.

Over 200 people attended the signature fundraising event.

The 2022 champion Herbivore Spellers, sponsored by Northern Arizona University (whose members were Laura Vasilenki, Ellie Kuznetsova and Dilara DiKiritas), were eliminated early in this year’s competition.

The event included dinner, a fun game of bingo, and a silent auction, which included a travel package, a variety of goodies from Fratelli and Crumble, and even a trip to a Diamondbacks baseball game. rice field.

Funds raised for this event will support the Literacy Center’s mission.

The Literacy Center’s vision is ‘Literacy for All’ and the organization’s mission is ‘to improve the personal, economic and community quality of life for all, providing basic education to adults, teens and families. To improve their English and literacy skills, professionally trained volunteers carry out our mission in our literacy centers and communities.”
