Foothill-De Anza names four finalists to be next chancellor | News

The Board of Trustees of Foothill de Anza Community College District has announced that four finalists will be the district’s next presidents, and the candidates will participate in a forum at Foothill College next week.

Longtime leader Judy Minor will retire on September 1 after 35 years in the district and eight years as prime minister. The board has named Farooq Day, Lee Lambert, Richard Storti and Rowena Tomaneng as candidates to succeed her.

Dey is currently Vice President for Integrated Learning and Life Design at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He was previously Dean of Stanford University.

Mr. Lambert is the president of Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona, a position he has held for nearly a decade.

Storti is the Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services for the San Mateo Community College School District.

Tomaneng is the president of San José City College. Early in his career, he taught at Foothill and De Anza and held leadership positions at De Anza.

Finalists will be selected after a national survey, and the Foothill-De Anza board will make a decision in June. press release from the district.

As part of the denunciations received last month, trustee Gilbert Wong was instructed by his colleagues to withdraw himself from the process of selecting a new president. After finding probable cause for subjecting President Holmes to “unlawful harassment and discrimination based on race and color,” it voted 4 to 1, with Wong dissenting. The board also determined that Wong had inappropriately leaked information to Holmes about the prime minister’s search process.

In an email Holmes sent to Wong after the December 9 meeting, he said he was considering whether he would be a “viable candidate” for the post of prime minister. Holmes did not respond to a request for comment before the news agency’s reporting deadline.

Forum schedule

The four finalists will each visit next week for additional interviews and public forums. The Forum will be held in the District Boardroom, Building D700, Foothills Campus, Los Altos Hills, 12345 El Monte Road. The forum schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday, May 2nd at 1pm: Farouk Dey
