The El Pomar Trustees approved $62,000 allocated to seven nonprofits and government agencies in the Northeast region at the Foundation’s March Trustees meeting.
Founded by Spencer and Julie Penrose in 1937, the El Pommard Foundation has an established legacy of general-purpose grants.
The competitive process continues to be the Foundation’s primary means by which organizations receive funding. Competitive applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
In addition, over the past 85 years, El Pomar has developed or been commissioned to manage many other funds, as well as presenting merit grants in each region recommended by members of the Trustees and Regional Councils. .
A regional partnership program was established in 2003 to increase influence and establish connections across the state. Each of the Foundation’s 11 regional councils advises the El Pomar Management Committee and recommends grants to support the community.
The Northeast Regional Council recommends grants in Cheyenne, Kit Carson, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, and Yuma counties.
Council members are local business, nonprofit, and public sector leaders who provide first-hand information about the current needs of their communities.
