I look forward to a follow-up article detailing the services the county provides to local fire districts and how much they are charged.
Include how your district is currently funding, estimated annual income and expenses, and current needs. The bonus is the staff level. Volunteering across the country is in decline in all areas of our society.
Arizona’s Proposition 310, which was supposed to provide funding through a one-tenth sales tax increase, narrowly lost last election. Rural fire districts are notoriously underfunded and overlooked by most. When you call 911, you should only assume that someone will show up to meet your needs if medical or property protection is absolutely necessary.
Imagine living in a city like Lake Havasu City when fire departments are mostly made up of volunteers with outdated equipment. Or if the police department were volunteers.
Do you believe you will get appropriate, effective, and timely responses when needed?
Given the amount of time and effort volunteers spend away from their families and jobs to get the training they need and to keep the necessary vehicles and equipment in good condition, we live in It takes us to provide the emergency services we expect regardless of whether you are traveling through
It saddens us to see that our collective community operates in a reactionary rather than a proactive approach to public safety.
