Bullhead City, Arizona – The work of Mohave Electric Cooperative staff, especially linemen, was recognized with several certificates and declarations at the recent MEC Employee Appreciation Day.
Bullhead Mayor Steve D’Amico on Wednesday, April 26th. Councilors Juan Lizaraga and Dan Alfonso. Mojave County Supervisor Hildy Angius and Congressman Paul Gossard’s office Penny Pugh were all present at the event to present the award to the MEC.
Mayor Steve D’Amico said, “Our community is great at thanking veterans, police departments and other first responders.” “
In his speech before awarding the certificate, D’Amico spoke extensively about his employees, and specifically about the work of linemen during the Labor Day suspension. “These guys are standing on top of utility poles and working under the worst conditions to restore power, while their families are at home and enduring the same blackout,” D’Amico said. “I’m here to let them know that the community values them.”
When it was Angius’s turn, she read a prayer written specifically for the lineman and another inspirational lineman-themed poem. She also thanked the team for their work during her suspension.
“It was an honor to be part of the Lineman celebration at the Mojave Electric Cooperative on Wednesday,” said Mojave County Supervisor Hildy Angius. “After events like the Labor Day storm, we need to remember that these men risk their lives to keep our homes and businesses. It was an opportunity to say a big thank you to Mohave Electric and all of their employees for what they did.”
An emotional Pugh spoke last, thanking the lineman as well. Pugh was then thanked by his boss, Rep. Gother, who was in Washington, DC and was unable to attend.
MEC CEO Tyler Carlson opened and closed the celebration by discussing the achievements of staff from all areas of the company over the past year.
