Yuma, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – The low pressure system will continue to weaken over the weekend, with wet conditions in the north and dry conditions in the southwestern desert.
It’s Cinco de Mayo again today, the temperature is cool and mostly sunny.
Light to gale conditions will persist tonight, with windy dust lingering over Imperial County tonight and gusts of up to 35 mph.
Strong winds and gusts of up to 25 mph are expected in the Yuma County area.

The gusts will continue through Saturday, with the heaviest winds expected in parts of Imperial County.
Gusts of wind up to 30-40 mph will kick up dust in Imperial County Saturday evening and into the night.

The forecast for the weekend is cooler than normal and the sun is strong.
The warming trend will continue into early next week, with temperatures gradually returning to normal or slightly above normal.
Another weather system will move across the southwestern part of the desert by the middle of next week, adding more cooldowns as well as more breezy weather.

The flood warning has been extended to 5pm Tuesday, May 9th. This is because the water released from the Painted Rock Dam continues through Yuma County and into the Gila River.
