Kingman – The Kingman Fire Department will hold a memorial service on July 7, 2023 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Doxell BLEVE incident.
According to a KFD news release, a memorial service will be held on July 7 at 2:00 pm at Lee Williams High School at 400 Grandview Ave. The BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion) occurred at Kingman on July 5, 1973. The accident occurred when a propane tanker truck being loaded and unloaded caught fire and his BLEVE occurred while career firefighters and volunteer firefighters were fighting the fire. The incident killed 11 firefighters and his one civilian. Three other firefighters, two police officers and 95 civilians were also injured.
Kingman remembers 11 firefighters in the community over the past 50 years. Station 21 has his 11 trees planted, 11 lights surround his complex in Kingman City, and Lee Williams High School has a principal who was one of his volunteer firefighters. Named after.
