On April 27th, Arizona Western College celebrated the graduation of 15 students who completed the Paramedic Program.of Yuma Fire Station We would like to commend the six department members who have completed this rigorous course of study.

These seasoned firefighters have participated in over 1,000 hours of classroom and 800 hours of field practice. Students took turns in the emergency room, pediatrics, surgery, and labor departments at the Yuma Regional Medical Center, demonstrating their proficiency for hours under the supervision of a certified paramedic.

With over 1800 hours of dedication and determination over the past 11 months, it’s the equivalent of a full-time job. These individuals were able to complete this intensive training program while working full-time, providing for their families, and engaging in regular community participation.
Agencies that have contributed to this Academy include the City of Yuma FD, Regional/Metro Fire Department, Somerton/Cocopa Fire Department, San Luis Fire Department, and the U.S. Border Patrol. YFD expresses special thanks to the Regional Border Health Center and her YRMC.
