COTTONWOOD — A man suffered severe burns in a house fire on South Pleasant Valley Drive on the morning of Sunday, May 7, according to the Verde Valley Fire District.
“One adult male resident suffered severe burns and was flown to Phoenix by Native Air,” the fire district explained on Facebook. “Unfortunately, our dog did not survive the fire.”
The fire is currently under investigation, according to the Fire Department. Red Cross and Arizona Crisis teams were on the scene helping displaced families.
Smoke from the fires off State Route 260 and Western Drive could be seen from miles away. Flames erupted from the side of the trailer house before the hose hit.
The VVFD and Cottonwood Fire Department worked together to put out the fire, as did the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and the Verde Valley Ambulance.
