Safford – The City of Safford invites the public to its Police Chief Recruitment Meet & Greet on Thursday 18th May.
The event will be held at 6:00 pm in the Safford City/Graham County Library Program Room, 808 S. 7th Ave.
The two finalists for the police chief position are Safford Police Inspector Brian Avila and University of Arizona Police Deputy Chief Jason Bligh.
A native of her hometown, originally from Clifton, Avila graduated from Eastern Arizona University with an associate’s degree in judicial administration. He holds a BA in Criminal Justice Administration from Bellevue College in Bellevue, Nebraska. He has 22 years of experience in law enforcement and in his spare time works as a local sports official.
Bry graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Management degree in Public Administration. Prior to joining his UA Police Department, he served as a Lieutenant in the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office and has 26 years of law enforcement experience.
