Tuba City — A man was killed in a clash with a police officer in Tuba City on May 8.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., the Tuba City District of Navajo Police received a call about a domestic violence dispute in a Navajo Housing Authority housing.
The suspect was seen holding a weapon and a woman reportedly screaming for help, according to a press release from the department.
Police said the suspect pointed his gun at the officers as they arrived.
A police officer fired at the suspect but missed, and the suspect fled to his home.
Officers surrounded the area and began urging the suspect to surrender, the police said. At that time, a woman approached the front door of the mansion, resulting in a second encounter between the suspect and police officers.
A bullet was fired during the encounter and hit the suspect. The suspect rushed from the scene,
However, he later died from his injuries. She was harmed by the woman and the police.
The case has been referred to the Navajo Criminal Investigative Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for further investigation.
