Northern Arizona University officials preemptively canceled in-person classes on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, ahead of a severe winter storm coming to the area. The closure only applies to the Flagstaff campus. Students, faculty and staff at her other NAU campuses in the state should plan their regular class and work schedules.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 9:00 p.m. Tuesday to 11:00 p.m. Wednesday. In addition to heavy snow, gusts of wind exceeding 80 mph are expected to cause damage. A blizzard and whiteout conditions are expected from Tuesday night through Wednesday all day. The Arizona Department of Transportation is urging drivers to delay travel as much as possible during the storm.
Those traveling within the NAU Flagstaff campus are advised to proceed with caution as facility personnel are clearing snow. Dining service opens Wednesday weekend hours, Hotspot opens at 9:30 AM, DuBois Center opens at 10:00 AM. All stores will close at 9pm, including late night openings and robot deliveries. The NAU Shuttle does not operate on Wednesdays.
