Weigh in on five-year transportation plan by June 1

The Arizona Department of Transportation is soliciting public comments on its proposed five-year plan by a deadline of Thursday, June 1.

According to ADOT, the interim program will total $7.74 billion, which will then be divided into statewide and countywide construction.

One of the major projects funded by this plan is the expansion of Interstate 10 between Phoenix and Casa Grande. The first phase of construction is expected to begin later this year. ADOT said this will also support its long-term goal of expanding I-10 to three lanes in each direction between Tucson and Phoenix.

Notably, the plan includes $817 million for road improvement projects throughout Pima County.

  • $196 million to extend I-10 from Alvernon Way to Valencia Road.
  • $185 million for I-10-Kino Traffic Interchange
  • $156 million on Country Club Road.exchange
