sedona news – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of The Starling Girl at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gilsheldon Theaters from June 9-14.
Seventeen-year-old Jem Sterling (Eliza Scanlen) struggles to define herself within a fundamentalist Christian community in rural Kentucky. Even her greatest joy in dancing with her church group was tempered by her anxiety that her actions were sinful, and her growing awareness of her sexuality. and her religious devotion.
With the return of the enigmatic young minister Owen, Jem soon finds himself drawn to his worldliness and charm. He slowly draws her into a dangerous relationship that upends her entire community.
