Stanford lost 8-4 to Texas A&M at the Sunken Diamond on Saturday night, conceded three runs in the top of the eighth, and needs a win against California St. Fullerton to continue the season. be.
Stanford led Texas A&M 4-2 in the NCAA Tournament after five innings in their own region, but allowed two runs in the sixth and three more in the eighth.
The Aggies loaded the bases in the eighth, then Hunter Haas doubled over left to score three runs and give the team a permanent lead.

The Spartans, who won the Mountain West Conference regular season and tournament titles, finished the season with a 31-27 record. SJSU improved from 6-30 in 2021 to 30-29 last season.

Two of San Jose State’s five homers were by Antioch native Charles McAdoo, who hit deep runs in the fourth and eighth innings. Jake Collett also hit a homer in the top of the fourth to cut the Spartans’ lead over Fullerton to 4-3.
However, the Titans scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth, all coming from Cayden Conner’s at-bat, who hit a three-run home run to left center off Spartans pitcher Jack White.
San Jose’s Robert Hamchuck and Dalton Bowling also hit home runs for the Spartans. It was the first time in over a decade that the Spartans hit five home runs, but it was the third time this season that they hit four or more in a game.
Collett got on base in 3 out of 4 at-bats, and had 1 hit in 2 at bats with a few walks. Mickey Thompson, a left-handed pitcher, relieved the first 1/3 of the inning without allowing a run.
McAdoo became the first Spartans player to hit two home runs in one game this season, the third time in his career. In 2022, the Spartans second baseman hit two home runs in two games, one against UNLV on March 26 and one against San Diego State on April 8.
It was the 12th home run by a bowler in 2023, making him the eighth-most Spartan player in history and the eighth-most homers in a single season.
