The Maricopa Police Department said residents could find sex offender notifications in their mailboxes later this month.
In a press release issued on Friday, the MPD said after an internal audit of criminal registration notices it will republish those notices through June. The department completed an audit of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
State law requires these notices to be sent to residents within 700 feet of the offender within 48 hours of registration or change of address. However, the MPD said it would send the notice again after the audit. The ministry stressed that the people named in the notice were not necessarily new residents or the result of new crimes.
“We urge residents to review this important information carefully and take necessary precautions to ensure their personal safety and the health of their loved ones,” the release reads. .
