Beginning June 1, 2023, the Regional Economic Development Center (REDC) at Yavapai University is offering a wide range of free certification and support programs through QUEST grants.

REDC has secured funding to support eligible learners for needs related to travel, technology, childcare, tuition assistance, internship scholarships, and removing other barriers to displaced workers .

In September 2022, Arizona received a $15 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The grant is part of DOL’s QUEST Disaster Recovery Discrete Workers Grant (DWG) program and was awarded to the Arizona Department of Commerce (ACA) in partnership with six Arizona community colleges, including Yavapai University.

Arizona’s statewide QUEST efforts will form a direct pipeline to workers in healthcare, information technology (IT), and manufacturing.

REDC has pathways for eligible individuals to:

• Make the certification process more successful with comprehensive student support.
• Earn an industry-recognized credential through Yavapai College.
• Earn an industry-recognized certification through Coursera.

This subsidy applies to:

• Temporarily or permanently laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic disaster.
• unemployed for a long time.
• They are considered unemployed workers as defined in Section 3(15) of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

This course is related to data engineering, analytics, cyber security, software development and engineering, digital sales, marketing, etc., and aims to certify and support learners seeking high-paying careers in IT. Average annual income is: From $50,000 to $200,000.

Yavapai College’s REDC is a resource center dedicated to building strong communities and increasing opportunities for local residents through economic development.

Yavapai University operates six campuses and centers in Yavapai County, offering over 100 degrees and certificates, bachelor’s degrees, student and community services, and cultural events and activities.
