Is Azealia Banks still playing “How Petty” five years after appearing on “Wild and Out”?
The “Anna Wintour” singer didn’t offer condolences to DC Young Frye the week after her partner Jackie Oh passed away, but rather Oh’s death was a tribute to her “Wild and Out” performance. He suggested that it was some sort of causal retribution for the incident. The singer despised.
Banks appeared on a 2018 episode of the hip-hop variety improv show Wild and Out, hosted by Nick Cannon, during a freestyle rap battle segment called “How Petty,” which saw Banks compete with DC. Face off against Young Frye.

Banks added that when she cried five years ago after appearing on an MTV show, it was “pure tears of anger” and “not a sign of weakness at all.”
“Because at the end of the day, I won,” she added. “I’m glad I was able to cry and move on. That Jackie O[sic]girl must have been so insecure about herself…and I’m calling such a gorgeous woman Azealia.” A nerve in DC called Banks… ugly on national television.”
In a subsequent post, Banks said Jackie’s death was ironic.
“Died May 31, 2023 in Miami, Florida, exactly on her 32nd birthday at the age of 32,” she continued, adding that people would “learn” not to interfere with her.
“My side thorn finally fell out,” she wrote in her final post.
Fans did not take Banks’ comments lightly, denouncing Banks’ “tasteless” and “hateful” remarks.
“I need to heal,” wrote one user. “Do you have hate in your heart and find satisfaction in death? It’s as tasteless and crunchy as Bojangles.”
“Kids lost their mothers and you’re thinking of disaster—just kidding!! That’s why you were on the F-Show!! That’s what comedians do,” shouted another is.
One of the replies was, “Yeah… good luck after this BC, where you’ve crossed a dead end.”
Jackie Oh starred on MTV’s ‘Wild and Out’ and has three children with longtime partner DC Young Frye. She died in Miami, where she was reportedly traveling to undergo a “mom makeover” surgery, according to a since-deleted social media post. The cause of her death is not yet known.
Jackie O, whose real name is Jaclyn Smith, was staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Hotel in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood on May 31, according to a Miami Police incident report obtained by The Times. He was found unresponsive day and night. Police were called and she was taken to a local hospital. Despite her resuscitation efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly before midnight. This incident is under investigation.
