Two suspects accused of an armed robbery and assault arrested

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Two suspects have been arrested for robbing and assaulting a 20-year-old man during a private firearms sale.

The Yuma Police Department (YPD) said it had received reports of an armed robbery in the West 18th Street and South 44th Street area on Sunday evening, May 7.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, was meeting with an acquaintance for a private firearms trade.

The buyer got out of a red SUV and showed the victim a handgun.

Other men climbed out of a red SUV and black sedan, displayed pistols and demanded that the victim hand over everything, according to the YPD.

The victim was told not to look back and was also hit on the head.

The suspects left the scene in both vehicles.

The YPD said several items were stolen, including rifles and handguns, and the victim suffered minor injuries.

One of the suspects, 20-year-old Angel Ochoa, was arrested Thursday morning and charged with multiple felonies, including armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Another suspect, 19-year-old Aden Arviso, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with multiple felonies, including armed robbery, aggravated assault and robbery.

Aden Alviso was one of the suspects in last month’s Yuma shooting, which killed two victims and injured five.

However, Alviso was never formally charged and was released.

The YPD said they knew all the arrested suspects, including Abraham Collin, who was arrested in connection with the shooting.

The YPD said it has recovered the stolen guns and is conducting a forensic examination to determine if they were used in the shooting.

This incident is still under investigation.
