PHOENIX – Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on June 9, a seasonal fire limit will be enforced for Land Management Land Management land in the Phoenix District, including BLM land in Maricopa, North Pinal, West Pima, and Yavapai counties.
According to the news release, firefighters have noted increased wildfire activity, which is expected to peak as the weather continues to get hotter and drier in the coming months. Fire regulations help limit activity on public land, which is known to be the most common cause of wildfires.
The following are prohibited:
Install, maintain, participate in, or use any bonfire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove fire except within a developed recreational site or improved site.
Smoking except in enclosed vehicles or buildings. Smoking is prohibited in all federal buildings.
Firing firearms, air rifles, or gas guns, unless engaged in lawful hunting in accordance with state, federal, or tribal laws and regulations.
This restriction also includes Baldy Mountain, Church Camp Road, and Saddleback Mountain, which are recreational shooting ranges developed in the Phoenix area.
Fireworks and target explosions are prohibited year-round on federal land in Arizona.
Pressurized liquid or gas stoves, lanterns and heaters with shut-off devices are permitted. If you use a portable stove, make sure the area is stable and clear of grass or other vegetation to prevent the stove from tipping over and starting a fire.
