WA Wildfire Smoke Expected to be Above Average This Season

Washington state wildfire smoke is expected to be higher than average, according to the Washington State Department of Health.

Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures now

The DOH said it is monitoring Smoke Lady Week through Friday and expects more smoke from further fires.

DOH air quality expert Caitlin Kelly said in a statement:

“By July Kelly MPH, we expect above-normal fire activity in Washington. With below-normal precipitation expected to continue into the fall, conditions tend to be longer fire seasons.”

The DOH encourages citizens, especially those with respiratory problems, to take precautions to filter indoor air using the following methods:

National Interagency Fire Center, Federal agencies are forecasting a red (high-risk) situation in the Pacific Northwest to begin in July and continue through September.
