A man allegedly stabbed a pitbull to death in New York City’s Central Park on Saturday evening after he got into an altercation with another dog walker, according to multiple reports.
The stabber was allegedly walking three dogs without a leash near East 106th Street and East Drive around 8:30 p.m. new york daily news report. According to the paper, he encountered a German Shepherd Pitbull mix and a Chihuahua, whose owners were being leashed by a middle-aged couple. The stabbing suspect’s dog then reportedly attacked the dogs on a leash. An altercation broke out between the stabbing suspect and the woman who was attacked by the pitbull, the newspaper said. Associated Press (AP Communications). As the woman tried to separate the fighting dogs, the man allegedly pulled out a blade and stabbed the pitbull mix, according to the Associated Press.
The pitbull mix was later euthanized at a local animal clinic, according to local police, according to the Associated Press. Another dog owner said the pitbull got along well with his dog. “They play together and run together every day,” he added. PIX11 News.
No arrests had been made as of Sunday, but police had opened an investigation into the matter, according to reports from the Associated Press and PIX11.
