REPORT: Army Ranger Accused of Mass Shooting Took Mushrooms, Thought World Was Ending

A U.S. Army expert accused of murdering two women at a Washington music festival was under the influence of mushrooms and believed the world was coming to an end, according to the Oregonian.

The suspect was identified as Spc. James Kelly of Joint Base Lewis-McChord was indicted in Grant County Superior Court on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of assault, in addition to domestic violence assault charges. according to to the Oregonian.

On the day of the incident, Kelly and his girlfriend Lily Luxic were attending the Beyond Wonderland electronic dance music festival at the Gorge Amphitheater. The suspect allegedly told police after the incident that he was under the influence of psychedelic mushrooms, the newspaper said.

Kelly, who allegedly ingested mushrooms, began hallucinating that the world was coming to an end and recovered a handgun from a truck at a campsite, court documents cited. He is suspected of shooting two passers-by, Brandi Escamilla, 29, and Jocelyn Lewis, 26.

After the initial shooting, Kelly allegedly shot Andrew Quadra, who was in stable condition on Thursday. Worker Lori Williams was also injured. Kelly allegedly fired at a drone at the sheriff’s office, shot LukÅ¡ić in the leg and thigh, and then threw away his cell phone as he tried to call 911. The suspect was later shot dead by undercover agent Edgar Salazar. he was detained. Kelly is scheduled to appear in court on July 5, reports said.
