A neighbor called 911 after a fight, but bystanders in the video simply stood by and did not help the victim.
“We don’t call 911 or try to help a child on the ground,” Hagan added. “It’s kind of disturbing that other people are just standing around and filming this poor kid lying on the ground.”
Officers identified one of the suspects in one of the videos and arrested them. The boy was wearing the victim’s shoes, Yeezy slides, which the store said were worth up to $300.
The suspects are believed to be between the ages of 14 and 17. “They are at least facing aggravated assault, robbery and other related crimes,” Hagan continued.
Neighbors report that young people have been causing trouble in the area for some time, and local curfews are useless as the riots often start before midnight.
The boy who was attacked is now safe, but his mother was heartbroken by the incident, and the children in the video reportedly did nothing to help him. Police urged parents to tell their children to call 911 if they witnessed the attack.
Investigators are encouraging the public to report valuable information about suspects’ identities.
