Stillman College has launched a partnership with Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church to meet the needs of students by providing parent-student childcare services. Stillman College President Dr. Cynthia Warrick said, “The availability of child care for students has become a major challenge for campuses.”
of Alabama Power Foundation provided a grant to help fund the center’s renovation and establishment. “This important gift from the Alabama Power Foundation represents their timely support and will have a significant impact on the ability of parents to earn a degree,” Warwick said.

Once renovations to the church meetinghouse and Sunday school area are complete, it will become a state-approved childcare facility. The initiative will provide childcare services to more than 100 Stillman College students. Work is expected to begin this fall and will take about six months to complete.
“As a member of the business community, Alabama Power recognizes that childcare remains a barrier for many families and that it impacts the development of our workforce as a whole,” said Alabama Power. Jill Stork, vice president, Western division, said. “I am grateful to the Alabama Power Foundation for its support of Stillman College and am very grateful to Dr. Warwick for his vision for this center. I know I can make a big impact on them by putting them in a better position.”
