A suspected burglar armed with a pitchfork tried to rob a home in Seattle on Sunday afternoon, but was reportedly thwarted by a homeowner with a Japanese sword, according to KOMO News.
Police said the suspect tried to enter the house while no one was there, but was thwarted by the 71-year-old homeowner and his wife, who had just returned from the store. KOMONews. The homeowner initially confronted the alleged robber, who allegedly held him down and stabbed him with a pitchfork to gouge out his eye. Fox 13.
The anonymous homeowner managed to escape and ran to his bedroom to retrieve his firearm. However, the gun reportedly malfunctioned and the homeowner reached for a samurai sword instead. (Related: Mini pigs save farm from bears)

“When the device failed, the victim was able to actually grab the samurai sword and stab the suspect,” said a Seattle police detective. According to KOMO News, Judina Galpan said:
“I grabbed the samurai sword and protected it.”[ed] According to Fox 13, the owner of the house said:
KOMO News said the suspect fled the property on suspicion of being stabbed and was arrested by police at a nearby residence. Neither the homeowner nor the suspect had life-threatening injuries, but received medical treatment.
The suspect remains in custody, with bail set at $150,000.
