Pinal County, Arizona — An Arizona teenager has been sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of murdering a 15-year-old boy in Santan Valley.
Joshua Franklin, 16, was tried as an adult in the September 2021 shooting and was sentenced last week in Pinal County Superior Court.
The victim, a young man, was shot multiple times at point-blank range at the entrance to his family’s home in Santan Valley.
Pinal County Attorney’s Office Franklin said he was upset because he thought the e-cigarette cartridges he had bought from the victim days before the shooting were defective.
Victim expected to meet with Franklin to replace e-cigarette cartridges.
Data extracted from Franklin’s phone calls, surveillance video and eyewitness testimony helped him pinpoint the time and place of the killing, the PCAO said.
Last month, a jury found Franklin guilty of first-degree murder and robbery. He will be eligible for parole in 25 years.
