Bodycam Footage Of Scene During Ex-NFL QB’s Drowning Released

Florida officials Wednesday released body camera footage of the alleged drowning of former NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett Tuesday at a Florida beach.

“I think they put him on the board,” another officer said.

Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden lamented the “tragic loss of life” in a video statement.

Aden called for the correction of certain reports that attribute drownings to rip currents.

“There are no signs of a dangerous situation developing, not just in Destin, but in Okaloosa County as a whole. No. We are under the yellow flag to ‘swim with caution’. It seems like it was just a tragic accident and had nothing to do with the state of the waves, tides or currents. ”

Ryan Mallett, 35, is believed to have drowned in the Gulf of Mexico in Destin, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. press release.

Mallett collapsed and appeared not to be breathing when he was pulled out, but was eventually pronounced dead after life-saving measures failed, the statement said.
