‘Thugs … Freaks’: Official Calls Out Philadelphia For ‘Lawlessness’ After 6-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Gets Shot

Camden County Commissioner Louis Capelli Jr. has accused Philadelphia of “lawlessness” following the alleged shooting of a 6-year-old girl on July 4.

The alleged shooting occurred when the two groups faced off near Wiggins Park in Camden, New Jersey, according to reports. NBC10.

A 6-year-old boy suffered a knee injury after an alleged collision rang out during a fireworks display, the newspaper reported.

One of the alleged shooters was reportedly from Philadelphia, a fact Capelli emphasized during a post-shooting press conference.

According to NBC 10, Capelli called on “thugs, criminals and gun-owning freaks in the lawless community of Philadelphia to stay away from Camden County.”

“Stop barbarism in Philadelphia,” Capelli added.

The six-year-old girl, along with three others, was taken to hospital with minor injuries but was not shot, the newspaper said. (Related article: 4th of July marred by violence across the country)

Three people were reportedly detained in connection with the shooting, and one of the suspects was released. Officials said the shooting was an isolated incident, according to NBC 10.

Capelli also emphasized that 80 percent of the guns seized in Camden came from out of state, “from Philadelphia and Pennsylvania across the river,” the paper said.
