A plane crashed and caught fire in a field in Marieta, Calif., Saturday morning, killing six people.
The incident occurred near the city’s regional airport, located in southwestern Riverside County between Los Angeles and San Diego.

The aircraft, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Cessna C550 business jet, reportedly departed from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. KTLA. A small wildfire started at the crash site, but responders were able to put it out within an hour, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The Riverside County Fire Department said the victim died at the scene shortly after 4:15 a.m., but his identity has not been released at this time.
KTLA said heavy fog covered the area Saturday morning, which may have pushed the aircraft several hundred yards off the runway.
The accident prompted both the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration to initiate investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
