A 1-year-old girl in Arizona has died after being run over by her mother while driving a car near her home, police said.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department received a call on Thursday from a woman who said she ran over a 13-month-old baby with her car. the police said.
The girl was identified by daily mail 13-month-old Saira Rose Torming was outside the Cottonwood home with her mother when the tragedy struck.
According to the sheriff’s office, the woman had her daughter in a child seat where she was believed to be safe while the car was being moved.
“While repositioning the vehicle, the front tire caught the child seat canopy, causing the seat to fall backwards and seriously injuring the infant,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Saira was rushed to a local hospital but was not saved.
No charges have been filed against the mother, and sheriff’s office investigators continue to investigate the death.
A GoFundMe page was created for the family.
The girl’s uncle described her as “a light in the world that puts a smile on everyone’s face”.
“During her short but beautiful life, she loved spending time outdoors, nature, playing with her family, animals and water,” she wrote on the page. “She only spent a split second with her and who wouldn’t have had the best smile.”
