21-Year Police Veteran Facing Child Porn Charges

A Maryland state trooper was arrested on July 7 and charged with possession of child pornography after investigators were directed to her home after being tipped off online, according to the Maryland Police Department. indicted for a crime.

Christopher Black Sr., 48, was charged with six counts of possession of child pornography after the Task Force against Internet Child Crime received a cyber tip in April 2023. The call came from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Black is a 21-year veteran of the division and a sergeant assigned to the Northeast Barracks. He was suspended on pay after his arrest on July 7 pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation, the release said.

Possession of child pornography Maryland carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison or a fine of $2,500 for a first-time offense. Repeat offenders face up to 10 years in prison or a $10,000 fine.
