Tucson-area school supply giveaways and donations

Tucson, Arizona (KGUN) — Summer may feel like it’s just started, but many school districts in southern Arizona will be reopening in less than a month.

For some families, purchasing new school supplies can be a financial burden. Whether you need help or can donate supplies, we will begin shipping supplies to some schools this month.

  • Lerner & Law returns the favor: This free backpack giveaway will provide 2,250 backpacks filled with supplies to students in need. Gifts are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • Friday, July 28th
    • Pima County Fairgrounds | 11300 S. Horton Road
    • Starts at 3:00 p.m., ends when sold out
    • Student must be present to pick up backpack
  • Impact of TUSD Tucson Family and Community Resource Fair: This event is open to TUSD students and their families and will feature games and activities in addition to free services to prepare students to return to the classroom.
    • Saturday, July 29th
    • Palo Verde High Magnet School | 1302 S. Avenida Vega
    • 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Supplies and Donations to Schools

  • Tucson Teacher Supply: An annual supply drive by local nonprofit Tucson Value Teachers, it is the largest supply drive in the region. TVT says he has donated more than $1.3 million to help cover the cost of purchasing supplies for teachers out of their own pocket since starting this activity.

  • salvation army back to school backpack sos: Partnering with Fries Food Store for easy donation drop-offs, this annual activity collects backpacks, pencils, pens, crayons, notebooks and other essentials for local students.
  • Aviva Children’s Services Back to School Drive: Aviva Children’s Services conducts a supply drive each year to provide backpacks and other supplies to children’s homes in southern Arizona at the beginning of the school year.
