Mexico’s SWL Second Division Creates First Four-Team Women’s Professional League Since 1954
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – We all remember the 1992 film “A League of Their Own,” which saw women replace the professional players during World War II, but now it’s time for that. revives in the southwestern desert.
For the first time since 1954, women’s professional baseball will be on the field. This historic moment took place as part of the Southern Winter League in San Luis Rio Colorado Sonora, Mexico.
A women’s league that will serve as an extension of the men’s professional league announced earlier this year. The format will be the same for four teams: Datireras, Pink Sox, American Girls, and Sunkiss.
The league will open in 2024 with tryouts in three locations (San Diego, Las Vegas, and Phoenix) from late January to mid-February, after which selected players will travel to Yuma County for the start of games on February 20. Enter Mexico for
