Thatcher – Thatcher police are investigating a reported murder in the Quail Ridge area.
According to a Thatcher Police Department press release, police responded to a call early Tuesday morning from a man who claimed to have shot a person. The 64-year-old man, later identified as Bobby Benitez, is said to have told the 911 operator that he wanted police to commit suicide.
Upon arrival, officers had a brief standoff that ended when Benitez shot himself.After receiving treatment at the scene, Benitez was taken to Mount Graham Regional Medical Center for further treatment. .
A search of the residence found a deceased woman identified as Patti Nois, 42. Her death is being investigated as a homicide. Benitez and Noyes were reportedly romantically involved, and the murders began as a domestic affair.
Thatcher Police Chief Shaffen Woods said in a press release, “This is an active investigation and we will have no further comment until it is appropriate.” “We extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this incident.”
