Yuma, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – The park near Kofa High School is currently undergoing extensive construction.
The improvements are part of an $18 million detention pond project.
The effort includes improving roads, installing locks and building pumping stations.
Alan Quintero, Deputy County Engineer for Yuma County, said: Construction has been underway for several years, and the flood control district is delighted to see it come to fruition. ”
A street will be partially closed from February 2024 and will last for about two months.
Temporary changes to Smucker Park as the project progresses
“We will close part of the park. Our plan is to keep it open and build a temporary path to allow that to happen, the only inconvenience people should expect. It should,” Quintero said.
This project is expected to last for one year.
