The moose calf was nearly run over by several cars before it survived, Skaji said. The newspaper reported that Skazi decided his mother wasn’t around and tried to scare the animal off the highway before putting him in the truck.
“Asiatic black bears are a calf’s greatest enemy. So I just thought, ‘Well, I can’t take care of predators, but maybe I can help this little calf.'” said Skadi.

While driving with a moose calf, Skazi called the B.C. Sheriff’s Department. The cub was being held at a wildlife rehabilitation center, the newspaper said.
