Former congressional candidate and former Navy Special Operator Hung Cao announced Tuesday that he is seeking the Republican nomination for the Virginia Senate.
“After 25 years of defending our country around the world, I have seen our country go dark. , I haven’t finished the fight for us.I have a duty to fight those who want to control our lives and destroy our families.Virginia has no politicians. I am not a bureaucrat or a keyboard warrior, but a true warrior, and that is why I am running for your U.S. Senate,” Cao said in a statement.
Released digital version advertisement emphasized his military service.

Cao grew up in Northern Virginia as his family emigrated from Vietnam in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. He served in the Navy as a special operations officer in charge of explosive ordnance disposal and deepwater recovery.
