On September 10th of this year, the Gila County Interim Community College School District (GCPCCD) will part ways with Eastern Arizona College, but it is not yet known where the district will next provide educational services.
On May 8, the GCPCCD board voted 4-0 to terminate the school district’s education services agreement with the EAC on June 30, 2024, after a closed executive board meeting. This change was accelerated by the EAC in June, and the change was accelerated by the EAC. The expiration date is until September 10, 2023.
The school district is seeking new educational service partners needed before Arizona becomes an independent community college school district. The school district has been silent about the details of its search, and Board Chairman Dr. Jan Blocker said in a June 12 “statement to the nation” that it was in discussions with “many” potential donors. I only wrote that it was. But the school district could be lifted during two city hall meetings in late July to “communicate plans, answer questions, address and mitigate concerns of students and staff.” It has said. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 25 at the Miami High School auditorium and on Thursday, July 27 at the Payson High School auditorium, both at 5:30 p.m.
An EAC news release said the cancellation would not affect current students at Gila Pueblo or Payson campuses pursuing degrees or certifications, including students in nursing programs. I will be able to finish my studies during the 2023-2024 academic year. After June 30, 2024, students can continue her EAC course online or at the Thatcher campus.
However, EAC does not enroll new students in Gila Pueblo or Payson and does not offer Block 1 nursing programs at these locations. Due to an agreement between the school district and his EAC, dual enrollment courses through CVIT and NAVIT will continue through his spring of 2024.
“The Gila Board of Directors expects to announce a new education provider soon, and EAC is committed to working with the institution to seamlessly transition services so Gila County students can continue to benefit from their higher education programs.” We are looking forward to it,” said Chris McBride, director of marketing and public relations for EAC. In his July 14 statement, he said: “Once the Gila Commission announces a new provider, speculation about how higher education will proceed in Gila County will all but end.” McBride said the EAC supported the district’s decision. added that it was working on a downsizing plan for Gila County.
