A U.S. Air Force sergeant was found dead in Lake Roosevelt on Friday, according to the Gila County Sheriff’s Office.
The aviator was identified as a sergeant. Corey Wade. Authorities believe Wade died during a training exercise at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, the sheriff’s office said.
Wade was a Medical Logistics Airman with the 48th Rescue Squadron based at Davis Monthan. The sheriff’s office led a multi-day search-and-rescue effort after Wade disappeared in the lake around 2 p.m. Wednesday while training to support Operation Jump.
His body was found on Friday.
